Terms and Conditions for online program
(in addition to general Terms and Conditions)

  • If your child misses a live streamed class, they will not be offered a catch-up session
  • Parents/carers must follow instructions to ensure participant safety and security.
  • If you choose to subscribe, you must give us one week’s notice if you wish to discontinue.

For your child’s safety, before you commence online training you must ensure:

  • children are supervised by an adult during the dance training (this must be adhered to in case first aid needs to be given)
  • there is sufficient space to practise (clear of furniture or other hazards)
  • children are to wear their usual dance gear
  • there are no trip/slip hazards and the flooring is suitable to dance on
  • there are no objects you may fall on or come in contact with
  • there are no younger siblings or pets who may be a distraction or get in the way
  • there are no sharp objects or hot surfaces near by
  • there is sufficient lighting
  • your camera/screen and other electrical appliances, including cables, are on a levelled surface and not in your dancing space causing a trip hazard
  • the room has sufficient ventilation
  • your child has water to keep hydrated
  • you seek medical advice before training if your child has any existing injuries or other medical conditions
  • instructions given by Gumnut Dance regarding online security are adhered to.

Please note, live streamed classes will be conducted via Zoom software. To protect participant privacy, live streamed classes will not be recorded and therefore not stored.

General Terms and Conditions

  • All fees are non-refundable and non-transferable to a sibling or other child.
  • We do not accept cash for any payments.
  • Where remainder fees are not paid by the end of week three, we reserve the right to charge a late fee of $25.
  • If a class is missed, up to two catch-up classes can be booked for the same term only.
  • In the event of a class being cancelled, another class will be offered in lieu, where possible.
  • Classes are only run on Public Holidays at the discretion of the Director. Should a class be cancelled due to a Public Holiday, a catch up class will be offered.
  • We reserve the right to substitute teachers should the need arise.
  • Parents/carers are responsible for keeping up to date with information related to Gumnut Dance classes.
  • Gumnut Dance strives to provide a supportive learning environment with all policies and programs designed with the students’ best interest in mind. Parents/carers must be respectful and follow Gumnut Dance policies and decisions made by the Director and/or teachers at all times. If parent/carer behaviour is deemed to be disrespectful of teachers, enrolment will be cancelled.
  • All students are insured by Public Liability insurance whilst under the supervision of the appointed teacher.
  • In the case of emergency where an ambulance is required, parents/carers are liable for the cost of the ambulance.
  • Mobile phones and cameras are not allowed to be used during class, unless teacher permission is given.
  • One parent/carer is to participate during the term in Spinning Gumnut classes. Extra family members are welcome to watch at the presentation class (week 10) at the end of term.

  • For all other levels, please leave your child to dance. Children engage with the program more effectively and have the opportunity to become independent learners when parents are not directly in the room (just like at preschool or school).
  • If your child needs to be reassured during class, please join in – rather than sitting at the side of the class as this can be distracting for children and may be unsafe (children might run and fall). Please discuss joining in with the teacher.

Code of Conduct

We’re pleased to welcome you to our Gumnut Dance community! We provide a positive and creative dance education for your child. With our non-competitive, safe environment, unique program, experienced teachers and a good deal of fun, your child will thrive!

Our Code of Conduct ensures the Gumnut Dance experience is as enjoyable as possible for everyone.

Code of Conduct for Parents and Carers

• All parents will be respectful and courteous to teachers, staff, parents, and students in waiting areas, within and outside of our venue.
• Parents are to trust in and support the dance curriculum as implemented by the teachers. This includes staying in/leaving the studio as requested by the teacher.
• Parents are to encourage students to comply with classroom and behaviour expectations as set out by the teacher.
• Parents are expected to not bully, harass, or intimidate any other student, parent, teacher or staff member.
• Parents are not to post photos, videos, or messages on any form of social media of a derogative nature in regards to any student, teacher, or visitors to our studio.

Code of Conduct for Students

• All students will be respectful and courteous to teachers, staff, peers and parents, both inside and outside of the classroom.
• Treat others how you would like to be treated and not bully, harass, or intimidate any other student.
• All students are to adhere to the dress requirements set for their class level. This includes attire, footwear, and hair.
• All students are to be supportive and helpful towards each other and not deliberately exclude others both during and outside of class.

All teachers and staff will:

  • be respectful and courteous to parents, children, and other staff at all times
  • be a positive role model to children
  • follow Gumnut Dance policies and guidelines at all times.
